The Cumberland Middle School boys cross country team placed 2nd out of twenty teams at the Shelbyville Invitational today. Individually, Aydan finished 2nd, Gavin 8th, and Henry 23rd. There were many PRs for both teams. Way to go Aydan, Gavin, Sam, Clayton, Paige, and Cameron!

The students in Mrs.Gilbert's 8th grade science class completed a lab experiment to learn about heat, temperature, and conduction on Thursday!

Cumberland Middle School baseball received the #2 seed in our regional. They will play on Saturday, September 16 at 11 AM at Casey in the semi-final round after earning a bye in the first round. The winner will advance to the championship game on Monday, September 18 at 4:30 PM at Casey. Go Raiders!

Mrs. Gilbert’s science classes are working with metric measurements this week. Today, the students calculated the volume of odd-shaped objects using the water displacement method.

Cumberland Middle School will play Jasper County Newton on Saturday, September 9, at 9 AM in the second round of the regional at Teutopolis Junior High. Go Lady Raiders!

On Wednesday, September 6, Cumberland Middle School Principal, Mrs. Stacy Keyser, was recognized by her peers in the Wabash Valley region of the Illinois Principals Association as the Middle School Principal of the Year. We are proud of you Mrs. Keyser! Well deserved!

Eastern Illinois Foodbank's new Foodmobile will be visiting Cumberland County to distribute free groceries this week. They will visit Cumberland County on the first Thursday of the month. Cumberland Middle School baseball will play Mattoon Middle School at 5 PM on Thursday, September 7, in Mattoon. The time is a slight adjustment from the original schedule.

Cumberland Middle School will host the first round of the IESA Class 2A softball regional on Wed., September 6, at 4:30 PM in Toledo. They will play Louisville North Clay. The winner will play Jasper County on September 9 at 9 AM at Teutopolis Junior High School. GO RAIDERS!

The softball game against Oblong that was canceled last week has been rescheduled for Friday, September 1 at Oblong with the start time at 4:30 PM.

It was bubble gum fun in 5th grade today! The students used the scientific method to test three different types of gum to see which type produced the biggest bubble!

Is Mrs. McElravy a zombie?? Mrs. D. McElravy’s 6th grade science classes had to decide if there was enough evidence to prove that she’s a zombie based on the characteristics of life!

The Cumberland Middle School softball game against Mt. Zion has been canceled for Friday, August 25. It will not be rescheduled.
