
Students made soft pretzels in Foods II. Some topped theirs with coarse salt, while others made a sweet sugar & cinnamon mix with icing. Either way, they were amazing! 🥨

The high school track meet at Teutopolis on Saturday (4/5) has been canceled.

Due to cancellations, today (4/2), the following events have been rescheduled:
**The wrestling banquet has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 6, at 6 PM.
**The middle school cheer clinic scheduled for tomorrow (4/3) will go until 6 PM.
**The high school cheer clinic will be on Friday, April 4, from 3:30-4:30 PM. Tryouts are still at 5:30 PM in the HS gym. Candidates are welcome to stay after the clinic until tryouts. There is still practice from 3:30-5:30 PM tomorrow.

All after school activities have been canceled for tonight (4/2) due to possible weather conditions.

The CHS Basic Earth Science class created a device to explore the night sky! Students made constellation cubes to connect with astronomy and deepen their understanding of celestial patterns.






Mrs. Lee's Basic Physical Science students put their knowledge of simple machines to the test by building marshmallow catapults! Using levers and fulcrums, they explored physics in a fun, hands-on way. Sadie Peters’ catapult won by launching the tiny marshmallow 33 feet!





On Friday, Cumberland had three track athletes participate in the Illinois Top Times Championships. Reid Carlen placed 4th in the 60M Dash with a time of 7.02, Hannah Shoemaker placed 11th in the 60M Hurdles with a time of 10.14, and Cameron Roedl placed 13th in the 800 M Run with a time of 2:06.30.

In Sunday's Central IL All-Star game, the NTC won over the LPC 95-70. Landen Keck (Dieterich) was the NTC MVP, while Camden Watkins (Sullivan) was the LPC MVP. Jackson Gurgel (WSS) was the 3-Point Champion.

Please make note of the following changes to the original school calendar. The district used two emergency days this school year on 1/6 and 1/7. Therefore, school WILL be in session on the following Fridays: Friday, April 11, and Friday, April 25.


The HI-Q semi-finals in which the CHS Scholastic Bowl team plays Calloway County will be broadcast on the local PBS channel on Sunday, March 30, at 5:30 PM. Check them out!

Students in Mrs. Steber's Physical Science class experimented with static electricity, learning the difference between friction, conduction, and induction.

Cumberland will be hosting the 32nd Annual Boys Central Illinois All-Star Basketball game featuring senior basketball players from the LPC and the NTC on Sunday, March 30. The 3-point contest begins at 6:05 PM, and the game will tip off at 6:30 PM. Admission is $5.

We encourage everyone to wear red on Wednesday, March 26, to support Neoga as they head back to school following the tornado damage to their schools. Let's show them our Pirate hearts and spirit as they navigate the remaining days of school.


The CHS dual credit speech class visited Lake Land College for the communication open house. The students experienced green screens, TV production, radio production, and recorded and heard their own LLC promos! 🎤🎥
