The Cumberland County Cross Country team competed at the Tuscola Invitational today. The boys team placed 5th overall. Medaling for the CHS boys were Cameron Roedl, Riley Morgan, Kaleb Bierman, Kade Bradley, and Zach Buescher. Libby McGinnis earned a medal for the girls’ team.

Mrs. Gibson's Biology 1 students tested for different biomolecules in class this week.

Students in Mrs. Gibson’s BIO 2 class have been researching and comparing different animal digestive systems. The students found different methods to show what they learned about the systems.







To bring awareness of Patriots' Day today, Carrie Verdeyen brought to each school an artifact from the September 11 attacks in New York for the students to view. The metal she brought was part of a beam from one of the Twin Towers. The artifact will soon be housed at the Veterans Memorial in Toledo.





Ms. Booth’s Mathematical Applications class was challenged to design, build, and test their version of a box car over the last week. Each group had a mock budget of $100 to purchase items for their build. The box car had to meet dimensional requirements in order to race down the ramp to compete for the highest velocity in the class!











The Cumberland High School boys cross country team placed 1st today at the Shelbyville Invitational! Placing in the top ten were Cameron Roedl 2nd, Kaleb Bierman 9th, and Riley Morgan 10th. Way to go!!


The Cumberland High School Marching Pirates marched in the Newton Fall Festival parade today. The band placed first in their class out of three bands, and the colorguard placed first in their class! Congratulations to all!!


Today, Mrs. Neal's students experimented with vinegar and baking soda to blow up a balloon!

Eastern Illinois Foodbank's new Foodmobile will be visiting Cumberland County to distribute free groceries this week. They will visit Cumberland County on the first Thursday of the month. The Foodmobile will be at these locations Thursday, September 7:
