The LPC All-Conference girls' basketball All-Conference players have been released! Alysa Dittamore was selected for 1st team All-Conference, Katelyn Shoemaker was selected for the 2nd team, and Jade Carr was Honorable Mention. Congratulations!

Mrs. M. Blade’s Co-Op I class has studied vocational information and skills needed for different career options. Today, Kevin Buenker and Kaleb McElravy, representatives from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 841, spoke to the students about the apprenticeship and training opportunities in working for the Union.

Many students in the district enjoyed visiting the petting zoo today! The petting zoo was sponsored by the Cumberland FFA.




The Cumberland High School Scholastic Bowl team placed 1st this past weekend at the Masonic Sectional Tournament. Cumberland went 3-0 in pool play and defeated Casey-Westfield in the Championship round 330-140. Cumberland will move on to play at Masonic State on Saturday, March 2, at Bloomington High School.


The boys' basketball game on Friday, February 16, 2024, against Martinsville at Cumberland has been canceled.

Freshmen Orientation for the current 8th graders is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21, at 6:00 PM in the high school cafeteria.

The Cumberland High School boys' basketball team will play Flora in the first round of the IHSA Regional on Monday, Feb. 19, at 7 PM at Flora. Good luck, Pirates!

Mrs. Lee’s Consumer Math class studied a chapter called, "Buying a Car". On February 15, her class took a field trip to several businesses in the community to learn more from local professionals about buying a car. They learned about interest rates, deductibles, down payments, credit scores, and so much more regarding buying a car. The students even got to practice leaving a tip at lunch. Mrs. Lee’s class would like to thank Chris at JKMitchell, Lauren at Country Companies, and Kevin and Sam at First Neighbor Bank for taking time out of their day to share their knowledge on the car buying process.

The Cumberland High School vs. Martinsville High School boys basketball game will be played at Cumberland on Friday, February 16, 2024, starting with the JV game at 6:00. This is a change from the original schedule, which had the game scheduled for Thursday, February 15.

Mrs. Lee’s Physical Science class was challenged to create a slow marble run. Students were split into two groups to construct the run, and the marble run with the slowest time would win. Students had to think about what kind of friction would slow down the marble and what would accelerate it.

The Cumberland County Broadband Committee is hosting a public meeting on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 5:30 PM at the Cumberland County Life Center Building, 507 E Main Street, Toledo, Illinois.
The committee has developed a survey to demonstrate the overall need for reliable and affordable broadband. This meeting will help residents better understand the committee’s mission and goals and explain how you can help encourage participation in the survey and the BEAD challenge. The CHS Wrestling team had four individuals qualify for the IHSA State Meet today! Owen McGinnis placed 3rd and Braydon Olmstead placed 4th at the Boys' Sectional. They will compete at State next weekend. Natalie Beaumont placed 3rd and Summer Nichols placed 4th at the Girls' Sectional. They advance to State on February 23-24. Congratulations to all!

The Lady Pirates advanced to the second round of the IHSA Regional after defeating Lawrenceville today 54-22! They now play Mt. Carmel on Monday, Feb. 12, at 6 PM at Lawrenceville. Go Pirates!

Tomorrow's boys' basketball game at Decatur Unity will be a Varsity-only game beginning at 6 PM.
