The fourth graders have been learning about the human body and how it works like a complex machine. Through hands-on projects, they built finger models to see how tendons help us move, explored what it’s like to experience the world without sight, and studied how animals see in the dark by observing how pupils change size to control light. They also tested their own reflexes to discover how quickly the body responds.

The book fair is coming! Purchases can be made from Monday, October 20, through Friday, October 24. The book fair will be open for the students Monday-Thursday, and it will also be open during parent-teacher conferences. Check out the e-wallet option, so students don't have to handle the money.

Mrs. Smyser's third grade students used multiplication math fidgets and math "keys" to practice their math facts after they finished their math test on Wednesday. The students were very engaged with this hands-on activity! 🔢

The first grade classes wrapped up their Human Body Unit with an exciting hands-on project! Students created life-size models of five major body systems: the circulatory, nervous, digestive, skeletal, and muscular systems. This culminating activity allowed students to apply their knowledge creatively and collaboratively.

Our littlest learners are using their imagination while playing dress-up and building a small town. Preschool gives our students many opportunities to be creative!

This week, Miss White's classes learned about balls. They are learning how high they bounce, what type of balls bounce the best, how far they roll, and which balls roll the farthest!

Mrs. Staley's third grade students worked on a Halloween reading mystery! The students read a passage and used reading strategies to hunt for clues within the passage. This helped them to eliminate possible suspects. When they solved all 5 clues, the mystery was solved! 🔎

Mrs. Peters' second graders had a fun Friday doing all things apple for Johnny Appleseed's birthday last week. They enjoyed an apple breakfast, complete with apple Danish and apple juice. The students created an apple life cycle craft, tried apple pie, watched a movie about Johnny Appleseed, and ended the day with apple volcanoes! 🍎

Mrs. Flessner's students are having fun working on sounds in speech. Each group practiced their sounds in a different way, including games, drills, and even crafts!

Happy School Custodian Appreciation Day! We are lucky to have our custodial crew who work hard to make our schools a great place to be! Thank you for all you do!

There are so many fun things to explore in Pre-K! Today, Mrs. Waller's students traced letters with jewels, created letters with Play-Doh, read a book together, built with blocks, and enjoyed their snack! The students had a great day!

Mrs. Smith's second graders finished their unit on pumpkins. They each got to paint their own pumpkin. For some students, it was their first time painting pumpkins!

Mrs. Runde's class circled together on the carpet to review tens and ones on their fun Friday last week!

Grade School Lunch Update: There will be a couple of changes to the lunch on Tuesday, September 30. Chicken and Noodles will be served instead of Salisbury steak, and mandarin oranges will be served instead of peaches.

Mrs. Bierman’s second grade students are learning about ancient civilizations. In science, they created models of mountains and added rivers to them. They used water bottles to represent rain. The rain traveled down the mountains and created rivers. Some rivers flooded just like they had learned happened to the Indus River in India. It was a great knowledge-science connection.

The third grade was busy last week learning about how the library is organized. They discovered the difference between the types of books the library has to offer and how a call number works. The students showed off their new knowledge by playing a matching game in which they had to place the book with its corresponding call number. These third graders are library pros!

Ms. Koonce's kindergarten class has been exploring the five senses! They squished and stretched Oobleck to see how it looks, feels, and even sounds, then practiced forming Braille letters with pokey pins to focus on touch!
