
The Orientation to FACS class is starting a basic hand sewing unit where they will learn helpful skills. Today, the students were working on cutting fabric.

There will be no JV volleyball game on Thursday, 9/19, at Blue Ridge. The varsity game starts at 6:00 PM.

School will dismiss at 12:09 PM on Friday, September, 20, for a Teacher In-service.

BIO 1 had fun modeling the functionality (or lack thereof) of denatured enzymes last week!





This past weekend, the high school cross country split and competed at two locations. The JV ran at Shelbyville and placed 10th. Jacob Pierce medaled with 23rd overall with a time of 18:05. The Varsity ran at First to the Finish at Detweiller Park in Peoria, IL. Cameron Roedl, pictured, medaled and placed 33rd out of 607 runners with a time of 16:21.


The CHS band won 1st place overall in Class 1A in the Newton parade competition on Saturday. The drumline also won best percussion in class 1A. Congratulations Band!!


The Foods III classes made pizza casseroles recently. Students selected their ingredients to make it personalized. They look delicious! 🍕





Vocal Velocity is an a cappella vocal ensemble that is an extension of the high school choir. This group performs the National Anthem as well as music for other times of the year, including homecoming, Christmas, and IHSA contest. Students who were selected this year are Maddy Cutright, Stevi Nichols, Ani Edwards, Cody Farris, and Austin Becker.


This is Attendance Awareness Month! The ROE is visiting with 1st grade classes this week to discuss the importance of coming to school. Attending school regularly helps students academically and socially. Let's work together to offer our students the chance to grow and learn!



Biology II students examined walking footprints after a discussion of human evolution to bipedals... with their extra time, they spread some pirate pride for Friday night's game!






The high school cross country meet at Neoga this Wednesday (9/11) has been canceled.

At the Charleston HS EIU Invite, the boys finished 5th out of 19 Schools. Four runners medaled: Cameron Roedl placed 16th with a time of 16:32, Riley Morgan placed 32nd with a time of 17:32, Gavin Whitaker placed 36th with a time of 17:40, and Kaleb Bierman placed 38th with a time of 17:43. Congratulations! Varsity will run at First to Finish in Peoria and the JV will run at Shelbyville on Saturday.


BIO 100 students enjoyed last week's nice weather while assembling their biomolecule Tarsia puzzles outside.



The high school science club experimented with Whoosh bottles this week!



Mr. Murdock's high school PE class worked on their golf swing yesterday. They competed for the longest drive. Who do you think won?










The ecology students enjoyed the beautiful weather by observing habitats and niches today!



The Lady Pirates volleyball team will participate in the Altamont Tournament this weekend. Their first game is at 9:20 vs Cerro Gordo. Admission for the tournament is $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, and K-12 are free.
