The schools have an early dismissal tomorrow for a teachers' inservice. Schools dismiss by 12:15 beginning with car riders at 12:05.

The kindergartners have been reviewing their colors over the past couple of weeks. The students did an outstanding job representing each color on color themed days! Here are a few pictures from their color days.

The Pre-K students in Mrs. Waller and Mrs. Ozier’s classroom had an exciting day today. They were introduced to two new classroom pets, guinea pigs the students later named Chewy and Emma. The students learned how to feed the guinea pigs today because that will be a classroom job in the future. Chewy and Emma appear to be very happy in their new home!
The second graders love to celebrate Fridays!

Today is International Dot Day and the elementary and middle school students wore dots to celebrate. Art students made pictures beginning with a single dot. This day was created to celebrate creativity, courage, and collaberation.
Mrs. Chesnut's first graders were busy working this morning in their reading centers.




The HS Yearbook is hosting a Kid's Night Out on September 30 for Kindergarten through 6th grade. Forms are available at the grade school.
Meyer Twins Art will be offering an after school program for Cumberland elementary and middle school students on Wednesday, September 28, from 3:15-5:15 in the grade school cafeteria. This program has a $25 fee. Attached is a registration form where you can choose one project. The registration deadline is Monday, September 26. Mrs. Smyser's 3rd grade class had the chance to investigate a bee theme box from Douglas Heart Nature Center. The students have been learning about bees in reading and science this week.




Mrs. Allison's 1st grade art class explored coloring with warm and cool colors this week!

Mrs. Figgins' 4th graders created paper cup phones to feel the vibrations that allow us to communicate across distances and hear sounds. Students will modify the design of their telephones to see if they can improve the sound quality.

All students in elementary and middle school "walked around the world" with their Raider Keys Passports at the beginning of the year to review the school expectations. Once their passport was filled, they were entered into a raffle drawing. Pictured are our drawing winners and Raiders of the Month.

Mrs. McElravy's 4th grade class did a toothpaste activity yesterday to learn about showing respect in the classroom with the words we choose.

Crush Cancer T-Shirts are available to order until September 14. All additional funds will go to assist Brittany Gilbert, Cumberland Middle School teacher, with her medical expenses.

Health forms and Dental Bus forms are due to the school nurse on Friday. If your child has not brought these forms home, they are still available at both school offices.
Mrs. Beard's class is celebrating the 2nd day of 2nd grade in '22!
