We found the purpose of this project was to set transect lines, learn how to identify trees, to find out what canopy coverage was. Also we learned how to identify seedlings, saplings, and shrub & vines.

    The goals of Illinois ForestWatch are to

• "to provide consistent, high-quality data which can be used by scientists to measure how the condition of our state's ecosystem is changing over time."

• "to educate4 and inform Illinois citizens about the ecology and importance of Illinois ecosystem; and

• "to provide an opportunity for Illinois citizens to become involved in the stewardship of the state's ecosystem."
