Green Hawthorn Crataegus viridis L.

Characteristics

Leaves:  Elliptic to elliptic-ovate, ridged to thinly lobed, slick on both surfaces except for a few hairs along the vein on the ventral side.

Flower:  White flowers that appear in early May.

Fruit: Orangish-red, rounded with 1/3 inch diameter.

Twig:  Silver-gray in color.

Buds:  Information is not available. 

Bark:  Gray with scales.

Form:  Maximum height is 30 feet.

Habitat:  Found in low, moist woods.

Wood use:  Use is unknown.

Distinguishing Features:  Unknown.

Location:  Toledo, Illinois.
